and we typically have children or adult adoptees from age nine through young adult. We are committed to helping each
family make personal connections that are important to them, and to this end we take a maximum of 30 people on each
tour. As a group we visit your child's adoption agency and a home for unwed mothers; places of historical interest such
as palaces, temples and museums; explore contemporary Korea through visits to various types of communities; a school;
national parks; sporting events; modern theater; the DMZ and offer an optional visit with a Korean host family. There's
also plenty of time for shopping and fun - including a visit to a baseball game and water park. Our tours are led by
a tour director with more than 50 visits to Korea spanning 20 years; a social worker who specializes in adoption issues,
and a professional, bilingual tour guide. Please check our website for more information and the next tour dates. |

| Korean Ties The Ties Program is a travel program for adoptive families visiting
their child's land of birth to see the sights, visit orphanages and reconnect with
significant people and places related to their adoption. Korean Ties families travel
for two weeks from late June through mid July. We begin in Seoul, then travel through
a great deal of the countryside including Mt. Sorak National Park and down the entire
coast to Pusan. From there, we go to Kyongju, finishing by taking the express train
back to Seoul via Taegu and Taejon. In addition to sightseeing, families visit Holt,
Eastern Child Welfare Society, Social Welfare Society and Korean Social Services.
Families are able to meet their children's foster parents (birth parents occasionally),
visit orphanages, have dinner in a Korean home, visit a maternity home, and spend a
morning at a Korean school. All of the things we do are optional giving every family
the ability to decide what feels appropriate within their family. Talk times are
facilitated by a social worker well versed in adoption issues. We also find time for
kids to be kids….a very important element for families traveling! |

| Roots Family Tour June 24 – July 6, 2008. Spence-Chapin Services (S-C), Family & Children’s Agency (FCA), and Americans for International
Aid and Adoption (AIAA) invite you and your family on the 2008 Roots Family Tour. This 13-day tour is specially designed for children and young adults
of Korean heritage to visit the country of their birth with their adoptive families. The goal of experiencing first-hand the history and culture of Korea
is of vital importance to many Korean adoptees. Those who have returned to visit Korea have had the opportunity to satisfy their curiosity and alleviate
their anxieties about their overseas adoption, their birth families and their cultural roots. Spence-Chapin Services (S-C), Family & Children’s Agency
FCA), Americans for International Aid and Adoption (AIAA), and Social Welfare Society (SWS) assist families in searching out important people and places
from their child's past. An experienced social worker and an English-speaking Korean travel guide accompany the tour group. In preparation for the trip,
families participate in an orientation workshop. To receive a brochure or for more information, contact Namyi Min (S-C), Korea Program Coordinator,
at 212-360-0292/nmin@spence-chapin.org, or Kathleen Carney Sacco (FCA), Korea Program Coordinator, at 866-222-9817/ksacco@fcagency.org, or Rosemary
