KAAN 1999 Conference

Welcome by KAAN Co-Chairman, Thomas C. Manvydas

Good Morning,

First of all, I’d like to thank everyone here for their attendance, participation, and support. This is a historic event and everyone here is a part of that history.

Certainly we are all here for the various programs and events, but it is the people that always define a great event. I think we have one of the greatest collections of people ever assembled – adoptees, young and old; adoptive parents; Koreans; Korean Americans; and many others.

Definitely enjoy all the programs we have. But, my biggest wish for all of you is to meet new people, make new friends, and develop lasting relationships. Without a doubt, a myriad of differences exist between all the groups gathered here, but beyond the differences, we all have some common ground. It is there that we can meet, communicate, and get to understand each other a little more.

Enjoy the conference and meet me for cigars and beer later!
